Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
Texas Children's Advocacy Centers (CACs) help families impacted by child abuse with highly effective therapy. CACTX is on the forefront of helping children's advocacy centers (CACs) implement innovative treatment interventions, including TF-CBT. This investment has enabled Texas to claim more TF-CBT certified clinicians than any other state, the majority of whom work at CACs.
TF-CBT is a conjoint child and parent psychotherapy approach for children and adolescents who are experiencing significant emotional and behavioral difficulties related to traumatic life events. TF-CBT incorporates trauma-sensitive interventions with cognitive behavioral, family, and humanistic principles and techniques. Children and parents learn new skills to help process thoughts and feelings related to traumatic life events; manage and resolve distressing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors related traumatic life events; and enhance safety, growth, parenting skills, and family communication.
